Timber Frame Homes, Barns, Cottages, and Cabins
Custom Designs Built by Experienced Craftsmen
We use traditional joinery found in colonial New England homes and Maine barns. We focus our talents on a limited number of interesting projects each year - post and beam homes, traditional barns or barn home conversions, alpine cottages, island retreats, shorefront homes, almost any personalized space. We work with you to design a building where architectural details and function are carefully blended.
Where tradition meets innovation
Aurora Timberframes offers a variety of models and building styles - from mountain chalets, waterfront or island cottages, and primary residences to hunting cabins, down-sized homes, and barns. All will meet your goals of quality, appearance, and affordability. In addition to timber frame and post and beam construction, we offer variations that combine the look of traditional post and beam with energy-saving materials that offer low maintenance and operating costs.
Bring us your floor plan and we'll build a timber frame around it
designed "around" a floor plan.
Already have a design in mind? Whether you've found a professionally drawn plan or have sketched one on a napkin, we can use it to produce your timber frame or post and beam building.
Want a designer? We guide you to the plan that is perfect for you and your location. We will help with site placement, energy efficiency, natural lighting, traffic flow and other things that make your living space into an incredible home.
Do you have an architect? We often work with architects, builders or other designers and offer our expertise in timber frame construction to get the appearance and structural integrity our customers seek. We work with common woods such as hemlock (great for horse barns, agricultural buildings, garages and shops), pine (formal or informal cottages, barn home conversions, mountain and ski cabins, workshops, potting sheds) or doug fir (formal homes, great rooms, additions, trusses, pool rooms, ocean front cottages, retirement homes).
Let your imagination guide our designer. We also work with more unusual species of wood including white oak, clear cedar, and species which are sustainably managed from rain forest environments.
